The Northerners Mean Business!

PENSA UDS-NYC have secured qualification to the quarter-finals of the National Bible Quiz 2026 after overcoming NUBS UDS-NYC and NEWBREED UG in Contest 16 of the One-Eighth Stage.

From the opening round, PENSA UDS-NYC gave a clear indication of their intentions. The Northerners opened with 10 points to take the early lead, with NUBS UDS-NYC close behind on 8 points. NEWBREED UG, meanwhile, managed 4 points.

It was a competitive start, but PENSA UDS-NYC appeared determined to make their mark. As the contest progressed, the question was whether their opponents could keep pace with their growing momentum.

PENSA UDS-NYC Create Separation

Round 2 saw PENSA UDS-NYC widen the gap between themselves and their opponents. They added seven points to move to 17, while NUBS UDS-NYC dropped to 6 points and NEWBREED UG ended the round without adding to their tally, remaining on 0.

The difference was becoming increasingly noticeable. PENSA UDS-NYC had established a comfortable lead, leaving NUBS UDS-NYC with work to do and NEWBREED UG needing a significant response.

The separation was real! But with more rounds to come, the contest was far from decided.

Test of the Day: NUBS Take the Lead

The Test of the Day brought a separate challenge, and NUBS UDS-NYC emerged as the strongest team in that segment, scoring 4 points. NEWBREED UG followed with 3 points, while PENSA UDS-NYC did not register a point.

It was a small but important moment for NUBS UDS-NYC, who needed every opportunity to close the gap on the leaders.

At the end of Round 3, however, PENSA UDS-NYC remained in front with 17 points. NUBS UDS-NYC had recovered to 10, while NEWBREED UG stood at 3 points.

The Northerners still held the advantage, but NUBS were beginning to find their footing.

NUBS UDS-NYC Mount a Late Challenge

Round 4 transformed the contest into a much tighter affair. NUBS UDS-NYC mounted a strong challenge, pushing their score to 26 points and closing in on PENSA UDS-NYC, who led with 27.

NEWBREED UG also enjoyed a productive round, moving to 13 points.

Suddenly, the seven-point gap between PENSA and NUBS had narrowed to just one point. After PENSA had appeared to pull away earlier in the contest, NUBS UDS-NYC were now within touching distance of taking over the lead.

Would there be a takeover? The final round would provide the answer.

PENSA Seal the Deal with Three Correct Riddles

With the contest hanging in the balance, PENSA UDS-NYC delivered when it mattered most. The team answered three out of the four riddles correctly, adding nine points to their tally and finishing on 36 points.

NUBS UDS-NYC could not match that final push and ended the contest on 29 points, while NEWBREED UG finished with 13.

PENSA UDS-NYC had weathered the late challenge and turned their early advantage into a convincing seven-point victory. Their performance across the rounds, capped by three correct riddles, ensured that the Northerners’ mission ended with a quarter-final ticket.

NUBS UDS-NYC deserve credit for fighting their way back into contention, especially after the difficult second round. However, PENSA UDS-NYC maintained their composure when the contest tightened and did enough to secure the win.

The Northerners are moving on!
