If the opening contest of the 2026 National Bible Quiz Championship established that no lead could be taken for granted, Contest 2 took that lesson to another level. What appeared for much of the contest to be a comfortable victory for AGCM TTU transformed into a frantic late battle as EPSU UCC launched a remarkable comeback, cutting a seven-point deficit to just one before the final question was answered.
In the end, AGCM TTU held their nerve to secure a dramatic 31–30 victory, with GESAM USTED-K finishing on 14 points.

It was a contest that belonged to AGCM TTU for much of the day, but one that EPSU UCC nearly snatched away in the final moments.
AGCM TTU SET THE PACE
EPSU UCC made the loudest opening statement, securing three points early and signalling their intent on the national stage. AGCM TTU, however, quickly responded. The Takoradi side settled into the contest and began converting opportunities with impressive consistency.
While GESAM USTED-K struggled to find their footing in their first appearance on the national stage, AGCM TTU steadily accumulated points. Several difficult sets saw all three teams struggle, but the Taadi Soldiers repeatedly found ways through.
They collected a bonus point in one set, followed it with two more points, and then produced another three-point haul as they began to pull away from their opponents. EPSU UCC remained competitive, but the gap was beginning to grow. GESAM USTED-K, meanwhile, endured a difficult opening round, struggling to convert opportunities into points with the consistency they would have hoped for.
When Round 1 came to an end, AGCM TTU had established the early lead:
- AGCM TTU — 13
- EPSU UCC — 11
- GESAM USTED-K — 3
The contest was already taking shape, with AGCM TTU edging ahead after a competitive opening exchange.
But nobody could have anticipated what Round 2 would bring.

THE TAADI SOLDIERS TAKE CONTROL
AGCM TTU entered Round 2 with the advantage and emerged with something far more valuable: a commanding lead.
The round began cautiously, with the teams struggling to find points. AGCM TTU eventually broke the deadlock and began adding to their tally, while EPSU UCC could not find a response. GESAM USTED-K also remained scoreless during the round.
AGCM TTU continued to find just enough answers to keep their scoreboard moving, eventually adding seven points.
By the end of Round 2, the leaderboard had changed dramatically:
- AGCM TTU — 20
- EPSU UCC — 11
- GESAM USTED-K — 3
The nine-point gap between AGCM TTU and EPSU UCC was the largest advantage established by either team in the contest.
For a moment, it appeared that the battle for first place might already be slipping away from EPSU UCC. The Taadi Soldiers had seized control, and their opponents needed a significant response to get back into contention.
But the National Championship had other plans.
EPSU UCC BEGIN THE CHASE
Round 3 saw EPSU UCC begin to claw their way back into the contest.
The UCC side added six points, while AGCM TTU managed four. GESAM USTED-K also improved their tally, adding four points to reach seven.
The updated standings were:
- AGCM TTU — 24
- EPSU UCC — 17
- GESAM USTED-K — 7
EPSU UCC were still seven points behind, but the complexion of the contest had changed. They were no longer simply trying to stay in contention; they were actively chasing the leaders.
AGCM TTU remained in front, but their opponents had found a way to put pressure back on the scoreboard. The question was whether EPSU UCC could sustain their recovery for another round.

THE GAP SHRINKS AS PRESSURE BUILDS
Round 4 brought even more pressure as EPSU UCC continued their recovery.
The UCC side collected seven points to move to 24. AGCM TTU, meanwhile, added four points to reach 28, while GESAM USTED-K continued their fight and moved to 14.
After four rounds, the standings read:
- AGCM TTU — 28
- EPSU UCC — 24
- GESAM USTED-K — 14
Only four points separated the two leaders.
The comfortable advantage AGCM TTU had enjoyed earlier in the contest had almost disappeared. EPSU UCC had steadily worked their way back, turning what had looked like a one-sided contest into a genuine battle for victory.
The opening contest had already demonstrated the importance of finishing strongly. Contest 2 was about to prove it again.
DOWN TO THE WIRE: ONE POINT SEPARATES VICTORY FROM DEFEAT
The final stage became a battle of nerves.
EPSU UCC struck first, collecting three points and reducing AGCM TTU’s lead to just one. The contest had reached its most dramatic moment, with the Taadi Soldiers’ once-comfortable advantage hanging by a thread.
AGCM TTU responded immediately, snatching the next opportunity and restoring some breathing room. With the contest balanced on a knife-edge, both teams had further opportunities to settle the matter, but neither could convert the next question.
Then came the final question.
EPSU UCC found the answer, adding three more points to their scoreboard. It was a dramatic finish from the chasing side, but the points came too late to change the outcome.
When the final scores were confirmed, AGCM TTU had secured the victory by the narrowest of margins.
ONE POINT. ONE VICTORY. A MASSIVE ESCAPE!
AGCM TTU had done enough. After establishing themselves as the dominant force through the first two rounds, the Taadi Soldiers survived a determined EPSU UCC fightback to finish just one point ahead.
For EPSU UCC, the contest will be remembered as one of the closest battles of the championship. From nine points behind after Round 2, they fought their way back to within a single point of victory. Their late surge nearly completed a remarkable turnaround, but the early deficit ultimately proved too costly.
GESAM USTED-K endured a difficult opening to their national campaign but showed improvement as the contest progressed, eventually finishing on 14 points.
Ultimately, the day belonged to AGCM TTU. They led after every round, weathered the late storm and held on when the contest became a final-question thriller.
One point separated victory from defeat.
And after just two contests, the 2026 National Bible Quiz Championship was already making one thing abundantly clear:
There would be no easy victories.
