The Reigning UG Champions Set the Pace

AGCM Legon have secured qualification to the quarter-finals of the National Bible Quiz 2026 after overcoming DLCF UHAS and GESAM UCC in Contest 17 of the One-Eighth Stage.

The reigning University of Ghana (UG) champions began the contest with a statement of intent, taking an early lead with 13 points at the end of Round 1. DLCF UHAS followed with 10 points, while GESAM UCC struggled to get going, managing just one point.

AGCM Legon had established an early advantage, but with two determined opponents in pursuit, the contest still had plenty of room for twists and turns.

DLCF UHAS Struggle as AGCM LEGON Hold Firm

Round 2 proved difficult for both AGCM Legon and their opponents. AGCM Legon remained on 13 points, but DLCF UHAS saw their tally drop from 10 to 6, while GESAM UCC remained on one point.

Despite not adding to their score, AGCM Legon retained the lead as DLCF UHAS lost ground. The gap between the leading teams had widened, giving the reigning UG champions an opportunity to consolidate their position.

However, the Test of the Day offered DLCF UHAS a chance to respond. They topped that segment with 3 points, ahead of AGCM Legon, who scored one point, while GESAM UCC recorded none.

The Test of the Day Gives DLCF a Lift

The Test of the Day provided a brief boost for DLCF UHAS, whose three points were the highest among the contestants in that segment. Their performance helped them regain some momentum after a difficult second round.

At the end of Round 3, AGCM Legon remained in front with 14 points, while DLCF UHAS had recovered to 9. GESAM UCC remained on one point.

Although the gap had narrowed, AGCM Legon continued to lead the contest. The reigning UG champions were still in control, but DLCF UHAS had shown signs of a comeback.

AGCM Legon Stretch Their Lead

Round 4 proved decisive in shaping the contest. AGCM Legon delivered a stronger performance, adding ten points to move to 24. DLCF UHAS also made progress, reaching 19 points, while GESAM UCC improved to 6.

With a five-point lead heading into the final stretch, AGCM Legon had created some breathing room. DLCF UHAS remained within reach, but the reigning UG champions had placed themselves in a strong position to finish the contest on top.

GESAM UCC, meanwhile, continued to build their score, though the gap to the leading teams remained considerable.

The Reigning Champions Get the Job Done

AGCM Legon maintained their advantage through the final round to finish the contest with 27 points, securing victory over DLCF UHAS, who ended on 22 points. GESAM UCC finished third with 9 points.

It was a composed performance from the reigning UG champions, who led from the opening round and held their ground despite DLCF UHAS’ efforts to close the gap.

DLCF UHAS showed resilience, particularly through their Test of the Day performance and fourth-round recovery, but AGCM Legon did enough to protect their lead and claim the all-important qualification spot.

For AGCM Legon, the mission continues. The reigning University of Ghana champions are through to the quarter-finals of NBQ2026!
