A Quiet Start to the Final Contest
The final contest of the One-Eighth Stage of the 2026 National Bible Quiz delivered a late surge of excitement as NEWBREED UENR, CASA UENR and NUBS KNUST battled for a place in the quarter-finals.
NEWBREED UENR made the strongest start, taking an early lead with 7 points at the end of Round 1. NUBS KNUST followed with 4 points, while CASA UENR were yet to register a point.
With two teams still searching for their rhythm, NEWBREED UENR had an early opportunity to build a comfortable advantage. But in a competition where fortunes can change quickly, the first round was only the beginning.
NEWBREED UENR Build Their Advantage
Round 2 saw NEWBREED UENR strengthen their position, adding seven points to move to 14. NUBS KNUST, meanwhile, dropped to 3 points, while CASA UENR remained on zero.
The gap between NEWBREED UENR and their closest challenger was growing, and the leaders appeared to be settling into the contest. At the other end of the scoreboard, NUBS KNUST and CASA UENR were struggling to make significant progress.
As the scores suggested, some teams had begun accumulating points, while others were still searching for the breakthrough that could bring them back into contention.
CASA UENR Finally Get on the Board
CASA UENR registered their first points in Round 3, moving from zero to 2. NUBS KNUST also improved their tally, reaching 6 points.
NEWBREED UENR, however, remained on 14 points, giving their opponents an opportunity to narrow the gap.
Although the leaders had not added to their score, they still held a commanding advantage. NUBS KNUST were making gradual progress, and CASA UENR had finally opened their account. The contest was beginning to show signs of life, but a major turnaround would require a stronger performance from the chasing teams.
CASA UENR Make a Dramatic Move
Round 4 changed the complexion of the contest.
NEWBREED UENR added seven points to move to 21, but the biggest development came from CASA UENR, who surged to 15 points. NUBS KNUST also advanced to 10.
Suddenly, CASA UENR had leapfrogged NUBS KNUST into second place and emerged as the closest challenger to NEWBREED UENR.
With the gap between first and second reduced to just six points, the final contest of the One-Eighth Stage was heading towards a tense conclusion. NEWBREED UENR could no longer afford to take their lead for granted, while CASA UENR had given themselves a genuine opportunity to cause an upset.
The final contest was going down to the wire!
NEWBREED UENR Hold Their Nerve to Finish on Top
With the quarter-final qualification spot on the line, NEWBREED UENR held firm in the final round to finish on 24 points, securing victory in Contest 18.
CASA UENR remained second with 15 points, while NUBS KNUST finished third with 10.
After leading from the opening round, NEWBREED UENR had successfully resisted CASA UENR’s late charge. Their ability to establish an early advantage proved crucial, particularly when CASA UENR found momentum in Round 4 and threatened to make the closing stages uncomfortable for the leaders.
The victory brings the One-Eighth Stage of NBQ2026 to a close, with NEWBREED UENR finishing the final contest on top and securing their passage to the quarter-finals.
