The 2026 UDS-Nyankpala Championship opened with a psychological battle of attrition. Facing off against GHAMSU, NUPS-G, and AGCM, the GNAAS squad proved that it isn’t how you start, but how you finish that matters. In a contest that felt like a “baby steps” marathon, GNAAS found their wings in the final moments to do the unthinkable.

With this victory, GNAAS becomes the first team from UDS-Nyankpala to punch their ticket to the NBQ2026 National Championship.

The Sound of Silence

The General Questions round began with a rare, tension-filled silence as teams struggled to break the deadlock. GHAMSU eventually took the initiative to lead with 7 points, while GNAAS and NUPS-G sat tied at 3 points. AGCM finally broke their own deadlock with a single point to stay in the hunt. It was a slow, cautious beginning for the Nyankpala giants.

A Tightening Grip

Scoring remained a premium in Round Two. GHAMSU managed to tick their score to 8 points, but the gap began to close as NUPS-G and AGCM both moved up to 5 points. GNAAS held steady at 3, waiting for the right moment to make their move.

The True or False Turn

The True or False round changed everything. In a brilliant display of scriptural knowledge, GNAAS surged forward to tie for the lead at 13 points with GHAMSU. NUPS-G (10) and AGCM (9) remained within striking distance, setting the stage for a dramatic final round.

Riddles and Sabbath Fireworks

The Riddle round was where the magic happened. Despite a missed first attempt, GNAAS showed incredible mental fortitude to snatch the third riddle. As the dust settled on the “Sabbath Day fireworks,” GNAAS finished at 16 points, leapfrogging the early leaders to claim a famous victory. GHAMSU finished at 13, followed by AGCM (12) and NUPS-G (10).

The Verdict: The Unthinkable Reality

In summary, GNAAS UDS provided a lesson in championship patience. They didn’t panic when the points were slow to come, instead waiting for the technical rounds to assert their dominance. They head to the National Championship as a “giant killer” that knows how to stay composed under pressure.

“For GNAAS, the Sabbath wasn’t just a day of rest—it was a day of revelation. They proved that when the fireworks start, the prepared mind finds the answer.”
