The 2025 edition of the National Bible Quiz (NBQ) Championship was officially launched in Accra on Sunday, 31st August 2025, with the eagerly anticipated balloting of fixtures also conducted. The event brought together representatives of all 54 qualified teams, coordinators, partners, and supporters of the NBQ vision.

Atmosphere and Worship

The launch ceremony was graced with powerful ministrations by Dave da Music Box and Mawuyrami Abra Ocloo, whose spirit-filled performances lifted hearts and set the tone for an inspiring evening. Their minstrations highlighted the central theme of NBQ — Igniting in young people the passion to study and live by the Word”.

A Milestone Moment

Speaking at the launch, Pastor Abraham Asiedu, Chairman of NBQ Ghana, highlighted the growth of the competition from a small pilot into a nationwide movement where faith meets intellect and young people boldly display their knowledge of Scripture with passion and precision. He recalled how the 2024 Championship—won by Deeper Life Campus Fellowship, KNUST—captivated audiences across the country.

Pastor Asiedu also addressed the pressing challenges confronting today’s Christian youth, including peer pressure, social media influence, gambling, drug abuse, and neglect of devotion, stressing the importance of grounding the next generation in God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:15).

Qualification

This year, after 13 institutional championships held between March and July, a total of 54 churches have qualified for the National Championship, including institutional winners such as GHAMSU UPSA, CASA UCC, NUBS UDS-NYC, AGCM TTU, AGCM KNUST, DLCF AAMUSTED-K, GCCI LEGON, and GHAMSU CCTU. Assemblies of God Campus Ministry were celebrated for winning three institutional championships in 2025, while GHAMSU leads participation with eight qualified teams.

Pastor Asiedu further acknowledged sponsors and partners, announcing that IT Consortium, operators of the Chango platform, have expanded their support, with the popular Speed Race round now renamed the “Chango Speed Race.” Other key partners include Visal Reinsurance Brokers, Sweet Muzic Pro Audio, and broadcast partners CACI TV, Deeper Life TV, Alpha TV, PCG TV, and Sweet Melodies FM.

He concluded by congratulating all qualified churches and assuring audiences that NBQ2025 promises to be “fiercer, richer, and more inspiring than ever before.

Bible Society of Ghana Reaffirms Support for NBQ at 2025 Launch

Speaking on behalf of the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Ghana, Ms. Rubby Akama, Programs Officer of BSG reminded participants that the Society has been part of NBQ from the beginning, ensuring that every contestant receives a free Bible. He emphasized that “anything that excites the youth, the Bible Society of Ghana is happy to be part of.”

The address also highlighted BSG’s 60th Anniversary celebrations, which began with the Mary Jones Walk, drawing hundreds of young people in Accra. As part of the anniversary, BSG will hold a special Youth Explosion—a nationwide thanksgiving and worship event centered on the Bible.

Participants were encouraged to cultivate the habit of reading the Bible in their local languages, with the Society recommending the diglot Bible (English alongside local language) as a practical tool to make God’s Word more personal and heart-felt.

In his closing remarks, Very Rev. Dr. John Kwesi Addo Jr., General Secretary of BSG, reaffirmed the Society’s 60-year mission of making the Bible available and accessible to all, and urged young people to deepen their love for both the English and local language Scriptures.

The Bible Society’s continued support underlines the shared vision with NBQ: to build a new generation of youth who are deeply rooted in God’s Word.
